Mobile Phone Watcher

It is amazing that the break through cell phones has achieved through music and web surfing but now one company is taking it one step further. You can now achieve Home Monitoring from cell phone. MobiWatcher is able to convert your mobile device into a remote monitor where you are able to keep your eyes on your family when you are not home. MobiWatcher also offers a remote control feature where you are able to turn off the lights or other appliances right from your cell phone, all remotely. Additionally, MobiWatcher uploads all video or picture recordings to their server so you do not need to have the cell phone to view what is happening. You can use Home Monitoring from Cell Phone for free but some features are not accessible such as Network DVR and Alerts History. The monthly charge for premium service is a mere $10 per month. You can also capture video from your house which will then be directly uploaded to MobiWatcher’s server. You will, however, need an IP Camera or a Web Cam with a Computer.

  • The Greatest Instrument Ever?

Blowing your  breath into a series of metal compartments to create what we call a note is so last century. We need a musical instrument for the digital age and I believe Tenori-On to be that instrument. It works by what seems like you press a series of buttons on the device and a line passing through the face will play which ever light is on. Each light has its own tune and thus you can create some mad beats.

  • Displays

The quality of your product is often reflected by how well you present it. To have a good presentation one must invest in aesthetically pleasing trade show displays. I am not sure if we have any The Office fans here but there was a recent episode where Michael Scott chose to only display one piece of paper on a booth with no other information. To no surprise he had no one interested in his company. To some extent this story is true. Having a well designed display at a booth shows your company is well prepared and it also shows that the product you are selling is coming from a well designed company.

  • I came across one computer that I was working on when a friend asked me “is my computer infected?” Whenever I login, I see a message  on the bottom right of the task bar saying my registry was infected. The icon took the shape of a red shield with a white X in the middle. Also noticed was the Internet Explorer Homepage was locked onto an adult site. After some research, I believed the virus to be the smitfraud infection.

To remove this smitfraud infection download and install SuperAntiSpyware. If possible try updating the software then begin the scan. It might take some time. After the scan completes do the scan once more when you are in Safe Mode. If all goes well your computer should be ridden of that malicious program.

For further assistance view this forum on the fix.

  • If you are ever going to sell a computer on eBay or give it out to someone when it is no longer of use to you, make sure you format the hard drive completely. Did you know that if you do a simple format, anyone with some computer knowledge can recover most of the data that was previously there?

To avoid such a mishap, I will refer you to Darik’s Boot and Nuke. DBAN is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. Basically, this boot disk will write over the whole hard drive with random numbers making it difficult for anyone to recover the data on it that was previously there.

  • Block Ads for Any Browser You Use

You might be thinking you cannot block ads for all browsers, only individuals ones with addons. Then you might think you can do so using programs but what I have here is neither a program nor an addon. It is called Hardcore Ad-Blocker and it is one of the best ad blockers I have used. The blacklist alone has over 14,750 advertisement sites blocked so they will no longer bother you. All you must do to use it is just click the “Enable Ad-Blocker.bat” file to instal the Host file into “C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.” To disable the Ad blocker just double click the ”Disable Ad-Blocker.bat.”

Propz go to Hardcore Ad-Blocker HOSTS file by “Sjaakie” and “Raz0r”

Enable + Disable commands by “eXPerience”

    Download hardcore-ad-blocker

  • SFC is short for Systems File Checker which is a command line utility used in conjunctionwith Windows File Protection. Basically, SFC.exe was made to protect your system files from 3rd party applications.

When is SFC useful? Say you get a .dll file missing due to installing a past program or you cannot open a file. Recently, a friend had a program where you can play .avi files through windows media player but could not anymore. A simple way to fix this is to go to Start->Run-> Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes. The scan will begin and it will retrieve the correct version of a file from the cache folder. You may be asked to have your Windows CD present so retrieve it while the scan is running.

  • Network Monitor

When your network infrastructure becomes to big, it becomes almost impossible for a single person to monitor it all. You can either expand your IT support, which can be costly, or implement a network monitoringproduct offered by Uplogix. No longer will you need to be on site to fix a problem with their award winning remote management products.

  • View Office 2007 Documents In 2003

For some unknown reason Microsoft decided to make Office 2007 documents, such as .Docx uncompatible with Office 2003 without a patch. Microsoft could easily have made it so you do not need a patch but alas it is Microsoft.

In order to view .DOCx and other Microsoft Office 2007 files in Office 2003 you must download the patch for Office 2003 from Microsoft. Just download it and run it and you should be fine. Also, you can prevent Microsoft Office 2007 from saving your documents in 2007 format by clicking the windows button at the top left of the screen in Office 2007. Go to Word Options near the bottom of the new window. Click the Save tab at the left and Change “Save Files in This Format” to just .Doc.

  • Now here is a quick tip to reset the Windows Administrator Password without knowing the password at all. To do so, Right Click My computer and go to manage. Click Local Users and Groups and select the Account with the password you wish to reset. Right Click said account and Go to Reset Password. Type in your new password twice and you are done!

What if you cannot login to your computer at all? Then I would suggest you look into Ophcrack. It is a bootable Linux CD that will crack your password in a matter of minutes. All you must do is burn the .iso to a cd and boot to it.

    Download Ophcrack
