Vudu

At first glance the Vudu looks very sleek, I love the black and blue color scheme on the machine. For HD content the Vudu is number one in delivering the most content. The only catch is that the Vudu is $300. Vudu has licensing to Universal, Paramount, Lionsgate, and some other producers. Also keep in mind, that you cannot stream downloaded content from one room to another, meaning you need to purchase another Vudu if you would like to watch different HD content. The Vudu machine is pretty compact, and there is no heating issues, which means if you would like to hide the Vudu in a drawer or something you can go ahead and do it. The remote that comes with the Vudu is amazing as well, the output for the Vudu is at 1080p with 24 fps. Compared to Blu-ray, Blu-ray still reigns supreme in image quality. It costs about $4-$6 for movie rentals.

Data, our computers can be filled with hundreds of gigs of music, photos, and files. If for some unforeseen incident the hard drive crashes, data recovery of such files can be costly. It is important to always back up your data. Portable hard drives are a solution for many in backing up data, or to transfer data. MY Passport elite by Western Digital is a fine choice for either backing up data, or transferring data. The portable hard drives come in 250GB and 320GB choices, and pretty much perform identically. The bundled software that comes with the hard drive is pretty cool also. MioNet lets you remotely access other computers that have been installed with the software. MioNet really makes filesharing easy, with the many options is has. The rest of the software that comes with the hard drives is the standard stuff we usually see with the other hard drives. These things are quick.

When it comes to gaming one of the most important component to any PC is a graphics card. The price range for cards can vary in between $50 to almost $1,000. Many people carefully choose what graphics cards they buy to install in their PC. One cool idea when it came out was SLI, where you can connect 2 graphics cards together, which in turn improved performance around 20%. However a new invention came out for graphics cards, and it is dual GPUs. And that exactly what the GeForce 9800 X2 has, dual GPUs. This card is a beast. The GPU core is at 600MHz, shaders at 1.5GHz, and memory at 1GHz. This card even clocked around 41FPS, for Crysis, which is amazing. The card also comes with a HDMI socket. The 9800 X2 supports HybridPower, which means when you do not need the power from the cards, you can save energy. Overall the card is a beast, but a bit bulky which is to be expected.

When it comes to gaming laptops, all true gamers have heard of Alienware. Alienware to me, has been the top manufacturer of gaming laptops. Many people who are serious about gaming usually buy from Alienware too, be it their top of the line products, the style, or performance. The m15x supports Intel’s 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme mobile CPU and comes with a 8800M GTX videocard. In both categories of cpu and videocard, this laptop comes with both that are veered upon as the best. A pretty cool feature that is innovative is when that you do not need the power from the 8800, you can reboot the laptop and switch to integrated graphics, this in turn saves your battery life. This laptop comes with a Blu-ray burner, and a 200GB 7,200 rpm hard drive. You can tweak the LED lights on the laptop with the control panel that Alienware provides you, overall this is one gaming laptop.
